Homes and Hope Half Marathons

A Marathon Month of Two Halves. Our Chairman, Barrie Stephenson is running to raise enough money to provide 150 nights in a Restore house by running two marathons. For each night someone who is homeless lives in one of our rooms we have to raise £8.

Barrie has completed his first half marathon and passed his first fundraising target of 100 nights – £800. To raise that amount he ran a route that passed every house where Restore provides rooms. It meant running about 22km.

The next Homes and Hope Half Marathon will be run in an organised event in Coventry on March 24th. Why Coventry? – that’s where his brother lives and they’re running together. So now Barrie is looking for sponsors for that run to reach his new target of £1,200 for 150 nights.

Barrie says, “I love running, it keeps me fit but the added benefit on these longer challenges is that I can invite sponsorship to help Restore provide homes and hope for people homeless in York. This month people have shown amazing generosity, so much so I have had to raise my fundraising target. For me it’s a double win.”

This is a great opportunity to help people who are homeless in York. How many nights can you donate?
