Among the runners are some of our tenants who until recently were homeless until they were offered a home by Restore. To sponsor them click here
Restore provides housing and support for people who would otherwise be homeless in seven houses. This year we are planning to expand our capacity by 30% to provide supported housing for up to 30 people. The funds raised through Chase the Sun will meet some of the costs of this expansion.
The fundraiser has been organised by the charity’s development officer, Jonny Wooldridge. Jonny says “I believe this is the first time a race over this route has been attempted by running alone. I am confident we can make it to Morecambe before the sun sets.” He is delighted that so many people have volunteered to Chase the Sun on Saturday, including some seasoned long distance athletes.
To complete the course while the sun is in the sky will require a pace of a mile every 8 minutes. The runners will be backed up by volunteers providing support and refreshments and cyclists, who will escort the runners on the sections of the route that are on public highways.
