Two people are moving in to their own homes in the Clifton area of York today. They are the first of five who will become our tenants over the next few days and weeks. It’s one of the most satisfying times in the work of Restore, when we open the door and give someone the key. They are usually people who had no idea where they were going to live until we stepped in.
The third house is on the way too – in just a mattter of weeks we’ll be repeating the process in the Acomb area of York.
We now have a pressing need to find and train more people who will volunteer to work alongside some of these people to help them to settle in and make a success of living in their own home. Could you be one of those people? You don’t need to be a professional in the business – just someone who’s sympathetic, caring, resiliant and wise. Someone willing to be both practical and prayerful. If you want to know more please email, Ed Hambleton, our Housing Development and Support Officer with your contact details and he will give you a call.
This may be your opportunity to be practically involved in a vital service to some of the vulnerable people in our city.
